While Away the time at the waterfront

The appeal of Lake Huron’s waterfront can only be appreciated in person. Goderich’s sunsets are unparalleled and we offer so many vantage points to steal a view.

There are so many ways to while away a day or two during your visit and our locals have fashioned their favourites for you!

The Harbour

Get in the water! Bring your boat, sea-doo or paddleboard and see the coastline from a different vantage point. On windy days, surfers take to the waves and if you haven’t yet purchased a paddleboard, rentals are available at Rotary Cove Beach.

Ready to reel in the big one? Venture out on the lake with Maitland Valley Fishing Charter. Catch your own dinner! Or venture out on the Maitland River for some fly fishing.

The Boardwalk

Get your steps in and walk the length of the newly renovated boardwalk. On your way, do a few reps on our beachside gym equipment. You’ll earn that ice cream!

How long has it been since you’ve built a sandcastle? Show off your engineering skills. Buy a kite or other beach supplies from Finchers on The Square.

beach street

Cool off with a well deserved ice cream at one of the two Rotary operated Beach Huts. Hungry? Stake out your lake view from at the Beach Street Station, a historic train station. Some of the best views of the lake are from the patio.

Award winning sunsets

Locals have a secret. Our sun sets twice each evening. Watch the sun dip below the water from the beach, and then run up the stairs to the lighthouse and watch the sun set again. With a nod to the area’s Scottish heritage, strand at attention while local bagpipers pipe down the sun every Friday evening.
